The Joint Clinical Research Center (JCRC) was founded in 1991 to serve as a national AIDS Research Centre. JCRC is Uganda’s pioneer Centre of Excellence for AIDS care, treatment, research, and training that was founded at the height of the AIDS crisis in Uganda by the government as a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defence.
